Job Description:
The Physics Department at Syracuse University invites applications for a postdoctoral position to work on Experimental Particle Physics research with Prof. Mitch Soderberg. The postdoctoral researcher will play a critical role in particle physics detector R&D projects being conducted on campus at Syracuse University in the newly renovated Noble Liquid Laboratory in the Department of Physics. These projects include development of pixelated Liquid Argon Time Projection Chambers (LArTPCs) for future experiments such as the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE), as well as explorations of applications of LArTPC technology for medical imaging. The postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to lead activities ongoing in the laboratory, work with graduate and undergraduate group members, and collaborate with colleagues from around the world who are pursuing related endeavors.

PhD in Physics
Job Specific Qualifications:
Experience in Experimental Particle Physics research, including: data analysis, software development, and general familiarity with detector instrumentation.
Responsibilities:
25% Develop and operate noble liquid cryogenic systems in laboratory.25% Lead testing of particle detector hardware.25% Perform wire-bonding and fabrication of electrical circuits for particle detectors.20% Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research projects.5% Other duties as assigned.
